Noise and Soliciting

Noise and Soliciting

All residents have the right to a quiet neighborhood, and therefore must comply with City of Durham noise ordinances.

  • Violations of the noise ordinance can be reported to the police non-emergency number (919) 560-4600.
  • No discharge of firearms or fireworks is permitted.
  • Homeowners are responsible for any disturbances created by themselves, their guests, tenants, or guests of tenants.
  • Owners shall ensure alarm systems associated with their homes and automobiles are in good working order.
  • If you contact the police about a noise problem, please also notify the property management company at manager@hvfnorth.com.
  • The HOA may take action against an owner if noise is a repeated problem.
  • HVFN has a strict no soliciting policy. Please notify solicitors you may see that our HOA has requested they not solicit in our community.

The City of Durham, whose laws and rules the Community falls under, enforces noise ordinances to help keep its neighborhoods pleasant places to live. Among other restrictions located under Sec. 26-23 and Sec. 26-24, no nighttime noise shall exceed 50db. This includes music from various sources, including radios, stereo speakers or television sets, or excessive noise emanating from within the home or vehicles.
